Pokémon GO is the most important game Nintendo has developed in recent years and potentially the most important one in their history and is due for release in 2016.

Pokémon GO is an ambitious augmented reality game that runs from mobile devices; the game will allow players to capture and train digital Pokemon they ‘find’ in the real world, players will even be able to battle each other through it. The app itself will be free to play however there will be several hardware pieces that players can purchase to improve their experience with the mobile based virtual reality game.

The Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has recently spoken about Nintendo’s ambitions to aggressively expand into the mobile gaming market and also confirmed to Mainichi Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper, that we can expect to see the first smartphone app in March this year. This news suggests then that Pokémon GO will not be released on the 20th Anniversary of the Pokemon Franchise in February, instead we could be seeing it in March if this is the game he is referring to.

Kimishima also commented that he would like to see Nintendo create more smartphone apps that include their famous characters in the near future.

The success or failure of Pokémon GO will affect Nintendo’s future and could either push them away from mobile games or pull them closer to the mobile games platform. This is Nintendo’s serious attempt at getting into the mobile gaming market and assuming this does as well as critics and fans are predicting, Nintendo fans can expect to see many more mobile games for Nintendo’s top franchises. Pokemon is one of the top franchises for Nintendo along with Mario and the Legend of Zelda so fans should expect to see mobile games for these franchises being announced or released this year.

Pokémon GO is one of the most ambitious mobile games ever created for such as world-renown franchise and the success of this game will be an important mark in Nintendo’s history. The success of Pokemon Go could encourage the creation of more augmented reality mobile games for other popular franchises and series such as Digimon.

Pokémon GO will be released this year for Android and iOS devices; rumours say the game will be released February 27th 2016 which is the 20th Anniversary of the Pokemon franchises however Kimishima has suggested an app will be released in March and hopefully this will be Pokemon Go.
